Microneedling is a type of cosmetic procedure which uses tiny needles to pierce the skin. This can help with improving skin elasticity, plumpness and give the skin a more youthful look and feel.

The tiny needles make small wounds in your face which causes your body to produce more collagen and elastin during the healing process. This helps to renew and refresh the skin and can help with a variety of different skin issues and conditions.

One issue it helps to treat is wine lines and wrinkles and is sometimes used as an alternative to anti-wrinkle injections or fillers. This is preferable for some people as it helps the skin to naturally improve without the use of chemicals.

It can also be used to help reduce the appearance of scars, decrease acne and help limit breakouts as well as treat hyperpigmentation. It gives your skin the chance to heal and renew itself by encouraging the production of natural chemicals and hormones.

The entire procedure is relatively short and should last less than half an hour. It is suggested that you get multiple treatments to see the best results over time.

It is not a painful procedure as numbing cream is usually used beforehand to stop you from feeling the needles. The needles are also very short and fine, meaning they should not cause any extreme discomfort or irritation anyway.

You may experience bleeding after the treatment, however, it should not be too heavy or severe as the needles do not penetrate that deep into the skin. A small rolling tool with needles on it is used to gently roll over the skin and allow the needles to puncture.

You may have tight or sore skin for a few days after the procedure and it can leave your face red and dry during the healing process. It is advised that you don’t use any products, from makeup to creams to washes, for at least 72 hours after the procedure to help it heal and prevent infection.
