With people expecting a scorching summer and booking beautiful holidays both at home and abroad, one of the appointments quite a few people make is with a facial aesthetics clinic.

Sometimes it is for a top-up of fillers or micro-injectables, other times it is to treat themselves for the first time and have a beautiful look ready for the big day.

However, one unique aspect of aesthetic treatments is that they do slightly differ in summer than they do in winter, with different considerations to bear in mind and additional aftercare needed in the summer compared to winter.

Leave Plenty of Time

Last-minute injections before your holiday can be tempting, especially given how clustered and busy our summers often get, but it is generally advisable to try and give yourself at least a week before making any major journey.

Typically the side effects, redness and swelling of a treatment go down in a couple of days, but in some cases, it can take longer, and one factor that can extend and intensify this swelling is the pressurised atmosphere of an airline cabin.

As well as this, returning to a stressful, hard-working environment as soon as you get off the clinician’s chair may produce extra hormones that can affect the lifespan of fillers, so try to take a couple of days off if you can.

Try To Avoid The Sun At First

The biggest concern when it comes to aesthetic treatments in summer is that you have to be a lot more careful with sunlight and hot weather, as it can extend and exacerbate the healing process.

Try to avoid overexerting yourself and sunbathing as it can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
